A series of concerts by a Pakistani Dhrupad vocalist in India

In the beginning of March 2008, Aliya Rasheed, a visually impaired Dhrupad vocalist, was invited to perform in Bhopal in a festival called “Swayam Siddha”, centered on the creativity of women. Apart from Bhopal she also gave successful performances in Kolkata, Ahmadabad and Bombay. In Bombay she received a standing ovation for an early morning concert before a house full audience. Aliya, trained by the famous Gundecha brothers of Bhopal, India, is currently a volunteer member of Sanjannagar Institute, which funded her four years of training in Bhopal, and also teaches at Sanjannagar Girls school in Lahore.
